The Sky-sphere originates from a very simple idea, which is realizing a sphere-shaped aircraft. With single fixed-pitch propeller providing thrust, and several control surfaces in the propeller wake area providing attitude control, the Sky-sphere can hover in the air automatically using our own autopilot system. Numerous engineering problems were solved through our unceasing development effort, including servo quality, control surface authority and weight reduction. After developing nine generations of prototypes, the 10th generation Sky-sphere, which is built by a Malaysian student, successfully achieved the Sky-sphere family's first autonomous hovering flight in the summer of 2013. | |||
